The Five Luckiest Professions If You Want to Win the Lottery
Whether it’s down to coincidence, pure luck, or some divine intervention, there are certain professions out there who seem to attract more in the way of lottery luck. Now, before you panic, check out the list and worry that you’re not on it, because you’re perhaps a school teacher or a bank clerk, and those two professions don’t make an appearance on our lucky list, don’t worry – Lady Luck could still be on your side!
The UK National Lottery has done a little researching, checking out whether there are any recurring patterns in professions winning the lottery more often than others. The results are quite startling to be honest, however whether there is any actual correlation and evidence that you should change job, really remains to be seen. Is it worth throwing in the towel on a long and illustrious career, simply because a few statistics say that if you’re not a shop worker or a secretary then you’re less likely to be a millionaire with a private yacht?
Probably not.
Basically, the research showed that a massive 331 millionaires have been made out of building or construction workers in the UK, which let’s face it, is quite a tidy amount, and it’s unlikely that many of those who won remains as construction workers after they hit the jackpot. On top of that, drivers and transport workers come in second, with 193 millionaires hitting the jackpot, secretaries and administrative staff were third in the list with 190 lottery millionaires being created, manufacturers coming next with 176 millionaires, and finally retail staff or shop assistants have been lucky enough to win millions 146 times.
Coincidence? Or Simply Just Plain Good Luck?
Let’s look at the possible reasons for this pattern, although quite frankly it’s likely to be just chance.
Now, construction workers are leading the pack, so why could this be? Well, you could argue that they could possibly work nearer to lottery vendors, so they can nip out to get a ticket in their lunch, or perhaps when they head off for a break they decide to buy a ticket on the hop, without really planning it, and then this ups the chances of winning. A fair argument, but again, no solid evidence.
Next we have drivers and transport workers; now, again, they get about a fair bit – no pun intended, so there is more chance of spreading the net of where they buy their lottery tickets from. Could this make a difference? Who knows, but it is a possible reason.
Secretaries and admin workers? Well, I have been an admin worker and I can say that I was bored for much of the time, which led me to impulse buy and yes, I impulse bought the odd scratch card and lottery ticket, simply to get me the hell out of the office, so this could be a reason for many; not all, granted.
Manufacturers? This one is a mystery to me to be honest, however shop workers I can kind of understand, especially if they are working in a shop which sells lottery tickets. Does this mean they will buy more tickets, and therefore increase their chances? Possibly so, and this could be a reason.
I guess at the end of the day there is no hard and fast rule, and these statistics are generally for fun and looking at trends, not particularly something which means you should be changing your job any time soon.
Don’t Rush to Change Your Career, Simply Rely on Lady Luck Instead
Winning the lottery is mainly down to perseverance, and not giving up when you get disillusioned. Don’t rush to change your career simply because Camelot have said they made more millionaires out of construction workers, it’s actually not worth it! Instead, stick to your hard and fast rule – keep the same numbers, to avoid being upset when you change them around and find your original set wins instead, play regularly, i.e. every week, and basically keep your fingers crossed.
