Triplex Review
Triplex is a lottery game offered by Loto-Quebec, a government corporation mandated to operate chance games with the province in a measured and orderly manner. This lottery game has daily drawings and costs $1 per play. Inasmuch as the odds of winning vary based on the number of players who participate, on average the probability of winning a prize is 1:4.13. The first draw for Triplex was held on September 4, 2007.
How to Play Triplex?
There are two ways of playing this lottery game; through a Loto-Quebec retailer or online. As opposed to other games where the player has the liberty to choose whether to pick his numbers manually or through the computer system, Triplex only allows Quick Pick where the numbers are randomly generated by the computer at the Loto-Quebec retailer. A single participation or play consists of 15 numbers presented on three horizontal lines each having 5 numbers.
For each horizontal line, the computer system randomly generates 5 numbers from a pool of 1 to 49. Each horizontal line is independent of the other and the same number may possibly be repeated twice or even three times.
Triplex Drawing
Wagers have up to 10.30 p.m. every evening top their tickets if they want to be entered for that day’s draw. The drawing takes place on a daily basis immediately after 10.30 p.m. Loto-Quebec conducts the draw to determine 5 random numbers ranging from 1 to 41 based on which players win prizes. The grand prize stands at $20,000 and the theoretical payoff rate is 57.8%. Triplex is fully governed by the by-law that oversees forecast contest and number games.
The Odds of Winning Triplex
There are three ways of winning in this game that is why it is called Triplex. A player can win on numbers on the same horizontal line, on mix and match from the 15 numbers in the three horizontal lines, or in no good number where the numbers drawn do not match any of the numbers the player has.
On the Same Horizontal Line
If you merge all the 5 drawn numbers on the same horizontal line, you get the jackpot which is prized at $20,000. The odds of winning this jackpot are 1:249,800. The total amount in prizes payable in this category is $100,000 meaning it caters to a maximum of 5 winners. Where the number of winners is more than the 5 provided for, the prize amounts will be shared in proportion to the winning participations.
If you have 4 out of the 5 drawn numbers, you win $100 at odds of 1:1,388. The last prize under this category is $3. This goes to the player who has 3 identical numbers to the 5 numbers drawn. The probability at this level is 1:40.
Match | Odds |
5 of 5 | 1 in 249,800 |
4 of 5 | 1 in 1,388 |
3 of 5 | 1 in 40 |
Mix and Match from the 15 Numbers
This category has 5 chances of winning. If you match at least 8 of the 15 numbers, you get $1,000 and the odds for this are 1:29,515. Matching 7 out of the 15 drawn numbers wins you $75 at odds of 1:2,679. Matching 6 numbers gives you $20 at a winning probability of 1:329. Having 5 identical numbers to those drawn gives you $5 at a probability of 1:58. Lastly, matching 4 numbers out of the 15 drawn wins you $1 at odds of 1:15.
No Good Number
If none of the numbers you have is identical to the 15 numbers drawn, then you receive a free participation and the odds for this are 1:8.
Triplex Prize Breakdown
If your ticket is among the winning tickets, the first thing to do is to ensure it is signed. Prior to validation, all lawful lottery ticket holders purchased from a retailer are required to sign their ticket. The most advisable thing to do is to immediately sign your ticket upon purchase. In this way, it becomes easier to prove that you are the legal owner of the said ticket and as such your interests are protected in case of loss.
Whenever a winning ticket is presented for claiming a prize, Loto-Quebec only pays out to the lawful ticket holder and this is determined by looking at the name originally appearing on the ticket. Ensure you do not scratch or make any unnecessary marks on the ticket because these may cause additional verifications to be done which may deny you the prize depending on the outcome or delay the prize claim processing time.
The winning ticket must first be confirmed through its control number failure to which no prize is issued. The ticket is the proof that you participated and no prize can be claimed without it.
The claimant may be required to give some documents as proof that indeed he or she is in a legal capacity to receive the prize. The claim period is set by Loto-Quebec as one year from the draw date as printed on the ticket. In the event the lawful holder of the winning tickets passes on before the claim has been paid out; the estate of the deceased will be given the prize upon presenting supporting documents.
If you play through the online platform, the prize will be credited to your Espacejeux account. Loto-Quebec attaches utmost importance in maintaining public trust and this is why it has in place claim procedures to ensure all its operations are handled with integrity. The corporation also strives to provide exceptional customer service to assist prize claimants. Triplex jackpot winners are given a personal welcome, even as they collect their check.
