What Pokémon Go Can Teach You About Success as a Lottery Player?
As of this year Pokémon has become popular once again. The majority of its fans are children born in the 80s and the early 90s. Pokémon seemed like a never ending animated TV show that won the hearts of many. A big chunk of these Pokémon fans are lottery players as well. The lottery and Pokémon Go have two things in common. One’s the adventure they come with, without a promised reward at the end of it, and the 2nd is a success.
Although success takes a different form in these two, there are a couple of things you and I as lottery players can learn. A word of advice, if you stumble upon someone that’s in the midst of a Pokémon battle, just move along. They don’t want to be bothered, unless you’re into Pokémon Go as well.
Fate Strikes when You Least Expect It
I believe that every individual is the master of its destiny. You carve it, shape it, design it, create it, in other words you can be or do whatever you want. Then again, fate can change things in a blink of an eye. All it takes is one lottery ticket to win the life changing jackpot. On the other hand, you can catch that Pokémon you’ve been looking for days when you least expect it. However, you have to be in the game if you want to succeed. The little digital creatures won’t come in front of your doorstep, nor will the lottery tickets buy themselves. Give fate a chance, everybody deserves a chance.
Success Comes in Many Shapes and Sizes – Explore New Things
The first thing that comes to my mind when I try to compare Pokémon Go and the lottery is that there’s a plethora of both. I tried Pokémon Go a few weeks ago, it takes a lot of “exploring” if you want to be successful. In the beginning, everything was interesting. But after a few days I had to kick it up a notch if I wanted to make progress. My final objective was to catch a few rare Pokémons and that was it. I wasn’t greedy. Once I had them, I’m happy. I could just lay low and take care of my eggs.
On the other hand, the lottery also comes in different shapes and sizes. Most importantly, the prizes come in different sizes. There are jackpots of hundreds of millions, and then there are prizes that will keep your budget afloat. As a lottery player that has been for years into this game I can say that I’m happy about all prizes. You have to have a clear line, beyond which you will consider yourself successful.
If you think it’s never enough, you’re on a good way to become a compulsive gambler, or a Pokémon Go fanatic that goes around the world.
It Can be Addictive to a Point It Becomes Damaging
The effects of becoming an overachiever can make you way more successful, but they can also cause damage to other areas of your life. Sure, you will have all of your Pokémons buffed up, and your portfolio will become extensive, but at a price. Of course, you can play it with your friends and maybe go on a long trip, but this will affect your relationship with your other friends, your S/O maybe, even your family.
If you go too far into the unknown you’ll eventually get lost. The same thing can happen with the lottery. If you start putting in a lot of effort, more time and resources, the results will come. However, there’s always a price. You see, your attention, your time is limited. Eventually, these constraints will start to affect your relationships.
Almost all people that we can consider as successful have lost something. They have sacrificed a big part of their time, of their life. Most of them are lonely, despite getting so much attention and having a lot of people wanting to hang out with them. They’ve already lost their buddies earlier on.
Success Requires Time, Patience, and Clear-cut Strategy
I’ll start from the last one, clear-cut strategy. Know your end game. Know your destination. Once you have this sorted out, you can start preparing your budget, both time and money. Going in without any plan can have its own repercussions. You better be safe than sorry! Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Patience. The best definition that comes to my mind about patience is as follows: knowing the result you expect will eventually show up, but you don’t know when, yet you still wait for it. That Pokémon you were looking for so long, it’s there, it will show up. Just give it some time.
Yes, time is a crucial element. Successful Pokémon Go players spend a lot of time playing it. Even if they’re onto something else, they’d stop and catch that Pokémon.
As a lottery player, you’ve probably been in a situation where you just have to buy that scratch card, or buy a lottery ticket that you haven’t played before. It will take some of your time. However, if you want to succeed, it will take a lot more time that you might expect. That’s why I recommend sticking to one lottery only. It’s like levelling only one Pokémon. It’s stronger than usual, but you don’t have other Pokémons to choose from.
You can’t have it all. As our dear philosopher Mick Jagger says, you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you get what you need.
