Lotto 47 Review
Lotto 47 is a lottery game offered by Michigan Lottery. It has a jackpot that starts at $1 million and increases in each drawing where a winner is not found. Just as the other lottery games, Lotto 47 gives players a number of ways through which they earn prizes. Every Wednesday and Saturday, the draws for Lotto 47 are held at 7.29 p.m.
How to Play Lotto 47?
This game has a pool of 1 to 47 numbers where a player has only to select 6. A single play, which costs $1 gives the player an opportunity to pick 6 of his favorite winning numbers. This game allows you to play up to 5 panels per playslip.
You have an option to choose your own set of numbers through the manual picking process. However, if you prefer an automated picking process, you can choose the Easy Pick option on the playslip and the computer software will generate your numbers randomly for you. None of these number picking systems guarantees you a win because Lotto 47 is purely a game of chance.
After completing your playslip, you are to return it to a lottery retailer with the amount you are willing to bet. The numbers you have selected will be entered in the upcoming draw and the retailer will give you your game ticket.
It’s always important that at this point, you check your tickets for accuracy and validity. Any errors spotted after you have left the terminals such as incorrectness of dates, errors around the numbers picked, and the drawings you have been entered for may not be easily rectified.
Lotto 47 gives you an allowance to enter up to 20 consecutive drawings. All you need is simply to choose the number of drawings you want to be entered for and mark appropriately on the multiple draw area of your playslip.
During a draw, the Michigan Lottery will randomly choose 6 numbers and anyone who matches all of them wins the jackpot. On the drawing day, the Lotto 47 pool closes at 7.08 p.m. to pave way for the drawing.

Prizes of Up to $600 – These prizes can be claimed at any Michigan Lottery retailer. Throughout the state of Michigan, there are approximately 11,000 licensed lottery retailers spread in every county. In the event you cannot trace a retailer near you, you can call the Public Relations office at (517) 373-1237. You should note, lottery retailers are under no legal obligation to redeem your winning tickets. Some of them have strict policies regarding cash management.
Prizes of Up to $50,000 – These prizes can be claimed at the Michigan Lottery regional offices which are located in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Sterling Heights, Saginaw, and Lansing. The regional offices operate between 8 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. from Monday all the way to Friday. If you are coming from the northern Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula, Michigan Lottery has partnered with banks in the region so as to provide a convenient means of serving you.
In order to avoid inefficiencies and unwarranted delays, winners must present their tickets accompanied by the necessary identification including their social security card and driver’s license.
Winners of Prizes above $50,000 – Because of security and validation concerns and procedures, Michigan Lottery requires that winners of prizes exceeding $50,000 should claim them at the lottery headquarters located at 101 E. Hillsdale in Lansing. Prior to visiting the headquarters so as to lodge their claim, winners must call the Public Relations line at (517) 373-1237 so that their ticket can be pre-validated and an appointment scheduled for them. While walk-in winners of higher prizes are accepted at the headquarters, such visits may result in lengthier processing times.
Claiming through Mail – Michigan Lottery has a window through which winners can claim their prizes through the mail. In order for you to do this, you will be required to complete a Ticket Receipt Form depending on whether it is an individual or entity winning. For club winnings, you will be required to complete a Substitute 5754 form. For all the claims made through mail, you must include your signed ticket along with valid picture identification such as the State of Michigan identification card, a valid driver’s license or a copy of your social security card.
