Some lotto players choose them specifically because of the frequency, believing that their reappearance in Lotto Texas results is only a matter of time, while others stay clear.
Lotto Texas Review
Lotto Texas is a very rewarding lottery game offered at the Texas Lottery. It is relatively easy to play and there are lots of chances to win. Unlike other lottery games, Lotto Texas has a pool of 1 to 54 numbers from which you are to pick 6 numbers. The drawings for this exciting lottery game are held twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays as from 10.12 p.m. Central Time (CT) which is equivalent to 3.12 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Apart from the conventional play options, Lotto Texas gives you an opportunity to increase your non-jackpot prizes to about $10,000 through the Extra! add-on feature.
How to Play Lotto Texas?
As highlighted above, playing Lotto Texas is pretty much easy because all you need is to pick 6 winning numbers from a pool of numbers from 1 to 54. The picking can be done manually where based on your past experience or the previous winning patterns you select 6 of your best numbers and mark them on the playslip.
In cases where you feel more comfortable doing it with a software, Lotto Texas has the Quick Pick option where you allow the Texas Lottery computer software to randomly generate for you 6 numbers with which you enter the bi-weekly draws.
In both of these cases, it must be noted that winning and losing is purely a matter of chance and there is no guarantee that any single method will give you an advantage above the other. Every play costs $1.
There is an opportunity to play Extra! at a cost of $1 per play. However, Extra! is not applicable to the Lotto Texas jackpot.
On the playslip, there is a slot for you to fill, determining how you want your jackpot payment to be done in case you win. If you wish to go for 30 annual installments, there is a box you are to tick. Also, there is another box for the cash value option where you get single one-off cash payment instead of annuities. You need to be very careful and decisive when filling this playslip because the method of payment you pick at this point cannot be changed later.
Lotto Texas also offers you a multidraw option where you play the same set of numbers in more than one drawing. If you want to go for this option, you have to mark the appropriate multidraw box. You should note that Lotto Texas gives you an opportunity to play anything from two to ten consecutive drawings.
Lotto Texas Drawings
The system used to pick the winning numbers is purely a probabilistic system whose outcome cannot be predicted beforehand. Every Wednesday and Saturday at 10.12 p.m. Central Time, Lotto Texas drawings are conducted. On the drawings days, ticket sales are not available between 10.02 and 10.15 p.m. CT. This is done intentionally to give room for the draw and not to jeopardize the outcomes.
Lotto Texas Game with Extra!
An Extra! costs a dollar per play as indicated above. Extra! plays do not qualify for the jackpot prize, but do qualify for the rest of the prizes.
If you match 5 out of the 6 drawn numbers, you win $10,000 in addition to the base game prize. On the other hand, if you match 4 out of the 6 drawn numbers, you win $100 plus the base game prize. Successfully matching 3 out 6 numbers wins you the base game prize plus $10 thanks to Extra! play. Even for those players who match 2 out of the 6 numbers are guaranteed a $2 prize.
In order to broaden your chances of winning, you have to buy as many tickets as you possibly can. However, you must do this responsibly.
The Odds of Winning Lotto Texas
Based on the outcome of the drawings and your prior selection of numbers, you can either win the jackpot or a number of other prizes or nothing at all. These are outcomes that you should be emotionally prepared to accommodate and possibly analyze and try out something different in the next drawing.
To win the jackpot, you have to match all the 6 drawn numbers. The odds for winning the jackpot are 1:25,827,165. In an event where the jackpot prize has been won by more than one person, it is divided equally amongst them. This is what it means to have a pari-mutuel jackpot prize.
The second prize of $2,000 goes to the player or players who match 5 out of the 6 drawn numbers. The odds of winning this prize, which is also pari-mutuel and fluctuating depending on the number of winners are 1:89,678.
The third prize of $50 goes to the player or players who match 4 out of the 6 numbers picked during the drawings. Based on mathematical calculations, the probability of winning this prize is 1:1,526.
A guaranteed prize of $3 can be won if a player matches 3 of the 6 drawn numbers. With a lower probability of 1:75, most players are assured of a prize in the Lotto Texas game.
