The Oklahoma Lottery Review
One of the recently founded lotteries is Oklahoma Lottery which has been around for only 10 years, as a result of state legislators approving a proposal that comfortably passed the 2004 general election ballot. As with other games organized throughout the country, the purpose of OK Lottery is to provide state residents with a chance of winning consistent amounts while raising additional revenue for underfunded projects. Both these targets have been accomplished so far and given the rising popularity of the games, it is only fair to assume that the lottery is here to stay.
Lottery OK in-house drawing
Immediately after the Oklahoma State Lottery was established, two games popular nationwide were introduced and they still attract thousands of players on a daily basis. Pick 3 Lottery used to rely on traditional drawing machines for extracting numbers, but as technology advanced they are now using a random number generator.
This doesn't impact the chances of winning the prizes, it only speeds up the process while keeping the games fair and transparent. Players win by matching the straight, box or combined wager with the top payouts being $500 while the cost of a ticket being capped at one dollar. Virtually the same system is in use for Oklahoma Pick 4 lottery with the main difference consisting in the fact that the winning number is made of four digits instead of three, which makes it more difficult to hit the winning combination.
The prizes are also boosted and that's why both games enjoy the same popularity, being stripped only by the Oklahoma Cash 5. Initially, the drawings were scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, but nowadays players can purchase tickets for nightly drawings and compete for prizes that are significantly larger than those offered by Pick 3 and Pick 4 lotteries.
Those were lucky enough to keep the winning combination, will have a total of 90 days to claim the prizes, after the deadline the cash being returned to Oklahoma Lottery coffers. For the aforementioned games, players get to choose between manually entering the numbers and using the lottery terminal system that goes by the name of Easy Pick.
OK Lotto multi-jurisdictional drawings
Despite being a recently established venture, Lottery OK is an integral part of several multistate compacts therefore granting access to different types of games. Oklahoma Hot Lotto requires players to select five white numbers ranging from 1 to 39 and one orange ball that is extracted from a pool of 19 numbers. The jackpot starts at $1 million and each time the game ends without a winner, the main prize is increased by an additional $50,000. The game is shared by 15 states plus the District of Columbia.
Oklahoma Powerball enjoys even more ample coverage, with the popular national lottery being available to residents of 55 jurisdictions. On Wednesday and Saturday evenings, drawings are scheduled and the jackpot starts at $14 million, being rolled over until somebody wins. The cost of a ticket is a standard two dollars, with those willing to activate the Power Play feature paying an additional dollar, in exchange of having non-jackpot prizes doubled.
Another game played over 45 jurisdictions is the Oklahoma Mega Millions, a more recent addition that was made available to state residents since 2010. The drawings take place twice a week and are not televised, while players get to choose between the lump payment and the annuity when playing not after matching the winning numbers.
