Vasana Sampatha Review
The impact of the Lotto industry in Sri Lanka has been profound. First and foremost, it gives opportunities to the citizenry to win lots of prizes. Secondly, part of the proceeds from these games usually go to deserving social projects that serve to uplift the living standards of the less fortunate or make lives even better for the entire nation.
The National Lotteries Board is the supreme body that oversees the lottery industry in Sri Lanka. It was put together under the Finance Act of 1963. Previously the body mandated for this role was the Hospital Lotteries. This was later abolished, paving way for the National Lotteries Board. The Finance Act was then amended between 1997 and 1998 to accommodate changes that effectively brought modernization and innovation in the lottery industry. The changes for instance, brought in new prize structures that rewarded the players more, thus making the games attractive.
Vasana Sampatha Lottery
This game was introduced by the National Lotteries Board in 1994. However, it has changed in structure ever since and it is likely to undergo further transformations as tastes and preferences of industry players change. At the beginning, Vasana Sampatha only had monthly draws which meant in a year only 12 draws took place. Secondly, the prizes on offer were relatively unattractive. They comprised Motor Cars, sewing machines, three wheelers et cetera.
Around August 1994, several changes were made and this gave Vasana Sampatha a whole new dimension complete with a new prize structure that has cash prizes and not just items and commodities. The number of draws and their timings were also addressed and now, Vasana Sampatha has two weekly draws, one on Monday and the other one on Thursday. This partly explains why the game has gained immense popularity in Sri Lanka.
Playing Vasana Sampatha
Much like any other draw game, playing Vasana Sampatha is fairly simple. It shares in the wider dealer network that the National Lotteries Board has put together. This means irrespective of where you are in Sri Lanka, you can play Vasana Sampatha.
Urban districts and cities such as Colombo enjoy fairly a wider dealer network compared to districts in far flung areas. For instance, districts such as Mathale and Jaffna do not have as many dealers. These are some of the areas the National Lotteries Board is looking to address and encourage participation.
To play Vasana Sampatha, simply visit your nearest dealer and identify yourself through your identity card so that the dealer or his staff will know that you are above the legal age of 18. Minors are not allowed to participate in any of the lottery games under the National Lotteries Board including Vasana Sampatha.
You will then be given a playslip which has panels, numbers and letters. The playslip is simply the platform or an instrument through which you choose your winning numbers. When choosing your numbers, you can do so through manual picking or quick pick.
Manual Picking
This mode of play involves you choosing the winning numbers yourself based on your preferences. Each panel has numbers and letters and you are required as part of the game that you choose 3 letters and 5 numbers, one of which is a bonus number. These are the numbers against which prize awards will be determined following the draw.
If it happens that you mark the wrong number or you make any mistake while choosing your numbers, you should void that specific panel. To do that, go to the bottom of the panel and check the void box. This will disregard the entre panel.
There is also the advance play check box. This simply allows you to participate in future draws well in advance. This is particularly helpful for people who are either too busy to regularly visit a dealer or are travelling and do not have the time to take part in the subsequent draws. Just check the number of subsequent draws you want to play and that is it! The same set of numbers you choose upfront will be entered in each of those draws.
Quick Pick
In quick pick, you inform the clerk to generate for you your ticket through the terminal automatically without having to choose the numbers yourself. This is preferred by players who want to spread their bet so as to enhance their chances of winning.
You can also play quick pick through the playslip. On the panel in which you want the system to automatically generate the ticket for you, go to the bottom and check the quick pick check box. One thing you must know, however, is that none of the two methods of playing gives you higher chances of winning. This is purely a game of chance.
Tickets
Once you hand over the playslip and the amount to cover the plays that you have been entered, you will be given the ticket. The cost per play in Vasana Sampatha is Rs 20. If you want to participate in 5 plays, you will pay Rs 100 and so forth.
The ticket you will be given has several features amongst them the ticket serial number, the National Lotteries Board logo, the date of purchase, the numbers and letters you have chosen and the amount paid for the ticket. These are important features when it comes to validating the ticket.
The ticket you are issued with is a bearer document. This means anyone coming across it can actually present it for a prize claim should it win. To safeguard against such highly discouraged behaviors, you should sign the ticket at the back. This makes it truly yours.
Also, your ticket is the only evidence that indeed you participated in the game and draws for which you are claiming the prize. You can never use the playslip as evidence. The law doesn’t recognize that. A defaced ticket will take longer for you to claim your prize and in the worst case, it could even lead you to forfeit your rightfully won prize. To prevent such occurrences, ensure you keep your ticket safe and do not fold it.
Vasana Sampatha Prize Breakdown
