Although he managed to have the bank refund the charges he will not be using his credit card to buy lottery tickets anymore.
The bank however made it clear that they do not have these charges levied if you purchase a lottery ticket for a charity. You however would have to inform your bank that that specific ticket was for a charitable cause for them to then verify. This is important information to have to avoid incurring unnecessary additional costs.
Every lottery winning will attract taxes. These taxes must be paid to avoid penalties. Most lotteries give lotto winners their cash prizes after tax. So if you have a ticket with winning lotto numbers be sure to confirm if the money you’re given if before or after tax. You don’t want the taxman breathing down your neck years after.
