These People Won EuroMillions Multiple Times, What’s Their Secret?
What’s your biggest lottery accomplishment? Winning a couple of bucks here and there? If so, you’re not alone. Most people never win big, especially when it comes to massive lotteries like EuroMillions.
On the other end of the spectrum, there are the people who seem to beat the odds every single time. These people have managed to win the EuroMillions jackpot or another serious prize not once, but multiple times over a relatively short period of time.
How have they managed to do it? A valid question that deserves some investigation! Let’s take a look at the stories of people who have won EuroMillions prizes multiple times and the manner in which they’ve managed to succeed.
Beating the Odds of 283 Billion to One
Meet David and Kathleen Long – people who made history in the UK by beating the impossible EuroMillions odds of 1 to 283 billion.
The couple from Scunthorpe managed to claim a million-pound prize twice over the course of two years. We’re curious about how this happened, but it seems that Kathleen and David are curious, as well. When asked by journalists about their amazing luck, both said that they couldn’t believe it.
This is the first winning couple to win the one-million-pound prize twice and to go public in the UK.
The first time the Long couple won was in 2013. There were 100 prizes of one million pounds for the respective drawing. David said he had a good feeling about his chances of claiming a big prize and he was certainly right. The Longs, however, have failed to tell the world how they pick their lucky numbers and what they attribute their amazing EuroMillions success to.
Winning the Lottery Twice with the Same Numbers!
If the first story seems unbelievable, consider this one – another lucky guy from the UK has won EuroMillions twice, but he accomplished the goal by using the same numbers both times.
Mike McDermott – an electrician aged 50, won for the first time in June of 2002 by buying a ticket with his lucky numbers of 15, 16, 18, 28, 36 and a bonus of 49. Because of this lucky numerical combination, Mike won 194,501 pounds.
Out of habit, Mike continued playing the same numbers after his big win.
In October, Mike was more than shocked to find out that his numbers had won again. The prize that time was 121,157 pounds. These are definitely far from the most impressive EuroMillions numbers, but the accomplishment is unbelievable. According to official lottery reps, what happened to Mike came with odds of five trillion to one!
Mike himself said that he believed winning twice with the same numbers was impossible. He simply kept on buying the tickets as a personal ritual that he’d already gotten used to. The second win definitely encouraged Mike, who is now working to prove that winning EuroMillions three times with the same numbers is a mission possible. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.
Good Doggie Brings British Couple a Second Win
Winning two times from the same EuroMillions drawing is another important accomplishment that somebody made a reality. This somebody is a pup called Ruby.
Jane and Alan Slater both bought a ticket for a September 2015 EuroMillions drawing. As the drawing was held, they found out that their ticket had won. Needless to say, the joy of the couple was huge.
The couple always played the same numbers and they had managed to match the five main digits. The prize for their accomplishment was 149,089 pounds. A few days later, Alan had Ruby in the car. She stepped over a catalog and a lottery ticket fell from it.
Alan and Jane had forgotten that both of them had bought a lottery ticket with the same numbers for the same drawing. As a result, they claimed two equal prizes, making the total amount slightly less than 300,000 pounds.
Prior to winning big, Jane and Alan had been playing EuroMillions for 20 years. Since that very first ticket purchase, the couple used the same numbers.
The Irish Woman Who Also Won Twice from the Same Drawing
They say lightning never strikes two times, but lottery luck can definitely hit a person twice. An Irish woman from Wicklow claimed two prizes from the same EuroMillions drawing and her story is quite endearing.
Lottery officials confirmed that originally, they believed two separate people had matched the five main numbers and a bonus number, which entitled them to a prize of 59,000 pounds each. Eventually, officials found out that both of the tickets belonged to the same player.
The lucky Irish lady bought her ticket for the EuroMillions drawing, but eventually, she forgot all about it. In order not to miss the opportunity, she bought a second ticket with the very same numbers. This way, she doubled the prize and claimed 119,000 pounds.
It’s definitely great to become forgetful during the week when fate is going to smile at you. This story is yet another incredible illustration that unbelievable odds can be conquered and kicked in the behind.
Winning the Lottery Twice (Metaphorically)
The final story involves a couple that won the EuroMillions lottery once, but they also had a metaphorical victory in the same year.
In 2017, Derek and Hellen Garnett from Ulverston won one million pounds from EuroMillions. It was a sweet end to a testing and challenging year that eventually turned out to be the happiest in the history of the family.
In November of 2016, Hellen was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She underwent a serious surgical intervention called radical hysterectomy that was aimed at saving her life. After a long and serious struggle, she was declared to be cancer-free in January 2017.
Soon after, the couple also found out that they’d won a million pounds from EuroMillions. Because of these events, Hellen and Derek claim that they’ve won the lottery twice in the same year.
While Hellen was fighting with cancer, her husband ruptured a tendon and had to take three months off work. The EuroMillions win enabled the couple to relax, deal with their financial worries and ensure a brighter life in the future for themselves and for their family.
So, the morale of the story is that there’s no universal formula for winning EuroMillions prizes two or more times. The stories that we’ve looked at teach us that forgetful individuals and those who stick to the same numbers have somewhat better odds than everybody else. Still, if you have a certain gaming ritual and you believe in its power, keep on doing you! Chances are that your efforts will pay off in the future.
