What Can Adult Lottery Winners Learn From the Younger Winners?
Do you believe that age is just a number? I guess it depends in what context you’re using this old adage, because there are certain situations where age isn’t really a number. For instance, as you get older your outlook changes, and when certain situations happen, you might deal with them in a different way than you would have 20 years earlier.
That’s not to say that the elder generations are going to deal with life and its situations better than the younger generations, and there is actually a lot to be learnt from a more youthful outlook. Lottery winners who are a little less in age may have a more carefree attitude and grasp every opportunity that winning a jackpot brings, as opposed to a more guarded attitude that may come with someone a little older – does that mean they’re living their good fortune to the max? Probably not.
It’s all about balance, but there are many things which younger lottery winners can teach slightly older ones.
Younger Lottery Winners Will Probably Grab Life by the Horns a Little More
You could argue that this isn’t necessarily a good thing, but you could also say it is, because let’s face it, life is very short indeed and you can’t take your money with you. Whilst it’s not a good idea to blow it all and then wonder where it went, younger lottery winners may be more inclined to enjoy their good fortune, whereas someone a little older may be more cautious. In this case, the younger ones could teach the older ones to loosen up and enjoy it a little more – in moderation, of course.
It’s Not All Spend, Spend, Spend – Younger Lottery Winners May Be More Inclined to Invest
Because we live in an age nowadays where there is more in the way of opportunity business-wise, and the younger generations have been brought up with this ethos, younger lottery winners may be more likely to invest some of their winnings into a small business and watch it grow. This may bring about more income in the future, and for their future children and grandkids. The older bods on the other hand might not be too confident with this kind of situation, and therefore avoid it altogether. Investment, when done wisely and with advice from someone trustworthy and official, is a very positive thing indeed.
Younger Lottery Winners Are More Flippant in Some Ways, Possibly More Likely to Share Their Good Fortune
I’m not suggesting that older lottery winners are more tight-fisted, not at all, but it’s all about generational thinking. Back in the day, money was something you should save, something you worked hard for and you kept in the bank for a rainy day; nowadays that kind of outlook isn’t so prevalent, and we are a little more flippant in our spending. Because of this change in thinking, younger lottery winners may be more likely to give cash to charities, share with family and friends, and again, invest. Sitting looking at your bank balance may give you a little bit of a boost when you’re fed up, but staring at a piece of paper or a computer screen, isn’t really going to give you happiness. The younger bods get out there and do something with it.
Basically, it’s All about Taking Life by the Balls and Running with it to the End
I don’t want to generalise too much here, but I guess I’m going to. Basically what I’m getting at is this – younger lottery winners are more open, carefree, and are more likely to throw caution to the wind and live, without really giving a huge amount of thought to tomorrow. This isn’t always positive, because when done in a totally gung-ho way you’re going to be looking at a rather penniless future, but when a little thought is given, i.e. the investment thing we were taking about, this is the best way to look at and live life.
Older lottery winners aren’t generally going to be seen heading off on an adventure somewhere far-flung, they’re more likely to buy a house and sit in it. Whilst this is good, because you can hand it down to your children and their children, staring at four walls is not living.
Younger lottery winners are more likely to head off into the horizon and create memories with their good fortune, whereas older lottery winners are more likely to think of bricks and mortar.
Maybe both generations have something to teach each other, but when thrown together, the blend is perfect, and life, quite frankly, should be pretty damn amazing.
